The day John went Tamburello is a five part composition for electric guitar and bass commissioned by the American guitarist John Tumburello, studying at the "Conservatorium van Amsterdam" in 1990.
Part 1: Intro featuring the Dutch national hymn leading to "Sweetness" a rocksong by the Dutch popgroup "Groupe des Six."
Part 2: An all flageolet piece based upon the all pizzicato "Allegretto pizzicato" from Bartók´s 4th String Quartet.
Part 3: Slapping bass in combination with a 3 against 2 guitar fingertapping rhytm alternated with distortion parts.
Part 4: Adagio with preferably a fretless bass.The theme is the melody of "Sweetness" in part 1.
Part 5: Concluding part with emphasis guitar-virtuosity. A small choral-motive which the composer often uses appears in this part forthe first time.
